This was a very hard project!!! And the last project in the Puppet Parade class on Wednesdays. Lots of stringing, glueing, and sewing. But we all ended up with a really cool wooden spoon puppet.

Kimono
Naomi created this amazing kimono! First, we drew the flowers, rainbow pattern and stars onto the white silk. Because there is a front and back to a kimono, we layered two piece of fabric ontop of each other. After we were finished drawing, Naomi picked her color palette of reds, oranges and yellows. We mixed the dye and then started painting onto the silk. To create texture, we sprinkled salt onto the wet dye. The next week, we wrapped the fabric in paper and stuck it in the microwave for 3 minutes. Fabric dye needs steam for it to fix to the fabric, so we put a small glass of water in the microwave with the fabric. Then we went outside washed the fabric and then stuck it in the dryer. After it was dry we drew a pattern and started cutting the fabric. Luckily, Naomi is an excellent seamstress and did most of the work by herself!!!
