Made from what?

This creature was made from natural materials that we found on a walk around the neighborhood.  From the picture it’s hard to tell, but the creature has a body made of two large leaves, fingers made of leaves and petals, a neck made of a twig and a belly button made from a small green tomato!  We pasted this all onto a large piece of fabric and then drew the background details on with a marker!

A Trip Under the Sea!

Future sight of the Submarine! See the bumpers…

During the Trip Under the Sea class, we will building a life-sized submarine in the front garden area of the Fremont Community School. We started construction on the submarine by drilling a board to the fence that will support the found car bumpers that we will use for the frame. We also cleared the area and made the ground flat by raking and adding leaves.

Picture 003After working outside, we moved in to make some painted submarines that have transparent window looking out into the sea. Each created different kinds of fish, plant-life and imaginary sea-life by drawing with markers on the transparency film. Then we cut out the windows of the submarine and taped the transparencies to the back.
